Norris Lundin Johnson, age 96 of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday morning, May 3, 2017 at The Gardens at Cannon Falls, where he has resided since fall, 2016.
Norris was born on March 27, 1921 in Vasa Township, the son of Nels and Victoria (Lundin) Johnson. He graduated eighth grade from District #38 country school, and then worked as a hired hand for area farmers. He also farmed with his parents in the White Rock area and later Cannon Falls Township.
He married Anna (Bakkethun) Edstrom on March 7, 1959 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They continued dairy farming on the family farm. In the fall, 1983, they sold the cows but continued to farm the land until spring, 1991 when they retired. Following his wife's death in 2010, he moved that fall from the farm to Twin Rivers Senior Campus, Cannon Falls. He has been a longtime member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Anna; great-granddaughter, Adelia Rose Olson; brother, Willard Johnson; and four sisters, Eleanor Peterson, Lucille Peterson, Viola Jagusch, and Regina Ryan.
He is survived by son, Dana Edstrom of Minneapolis; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Monroe of Cannon Falls; granddaughter, Shelby Olson (Trevor Newborg) of Cannon Falls; great-grandchildren, Trent Olson and Reighan Olson; sister-in-law, Irene Lundell of Cannon Falls; Marguerite Judge of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 2-5 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls.
A memorial service will be on Monday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls.
