Alan Vaught

Alan Ladd Vaught, age 68 of Welch, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20 at the Southside Baptist Church, 5613 S. Robert Tr., Inver Grove Heights, with Pastor Jerry Brantham officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Cannon Falls Cemetery in Cannon Falls. Alan was born on September 30, 1945 in Marysville, Kansas, the son of John and Minnie (Ott) Vaught. He graduated in 1963 from New Prague High School and entered active duty in the US Air Force two years later. Following his military service, Alan started working for Northwest Airlines where he served in various positions, including crew coordinator for flight operations until his retirement in 2005. Alan was united in marriage to Coleen M. Adler on February 6, 1971 in Bloomington and they made their home in Cannon Falls and Welch where they raised their four children. He loved spending time with his family and was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church in Inver Grove Heights for seventeen years where he taught Adult Sunday School. Alan was an avid horse enthusiast and raised many quarter horses. In his free time he enjoyed painting and playing piano. He is survived by his children, Ladd of Welch, MN, Lee of St. Paul, MN, Dawn of Welch, MN and Lane (Autum) of Lancaster, CA; siblings, Betty Barrington, Robert (Janet), Nina Kraft, Beth (Jim) Bailie, Brian, Clark (Channa) and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Coleen as well as his parents John and Minnie.
