Anastasia Lohmann Waller passed away on May 1, 2022. She was born April 10,1937, to Dr. John and Anastasia (Hodgson) Lohmann. She grew up, the oldest of nine children, in Pipestone, MN. Anastasia graduated from The College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, MN in 1959 with a degree in Education. While attending the1961 wedding of a childhood friend in Dixon, IL she met Lyndon (Stretch) Waller. After a one-year, long-distance courtship they married and settled in the Chicago area. While raising their four children, Anastasia worked as an educator and administrator for Marian Catholic High School (Chicago Heights, IL) for nearly 50 years. She returned to Minnesota in her retirement years.
Anastasia’s friends and family fondly knew her by a variety of names–Ann, Stash, Mrs. Waller, Mom, Grandma Stash, and GG. We all remember her as a kind, caring woman; an excellent cook with a healthy dose of calm wisdom, a dash of spunk, and a sprinkle of fun. We will miss her caramel rolls and sour cream cookies, but mostly we will miss her loving spirit.
Anastasia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anastasia Lohmann; her husband of 44 years, Lyndon Waller; sister, Madge Frahm and brother-in-law, Dick Falor. She is survived by her children Martha (Jim) Bowen, Cannon Falls; Sarah (Craig) Traxler, Arizona; John Waller (Genevieve); and Jim Waller (Sunny) all of Chicago. Survivors also include her 10 grandchildren Patrick (Emily) Bowen and their children, Maggie and Gus; Michael (Meghan) Bowen and their children, Edison and Sullivan; Kathleen Anastasia (Chris) Nobach and their children Georgia Anastasia and Dakota; and Caroline Bowen; Nicholas, Nathan and Olivia Traxler; Matthew, Vivian and Cynthia Waller, and step grandchildren, Ryan and Mia Okamoto. She is also survived by siblings John (Anne) Lohmann, Susan (Steve) Kellerman, Lucy Falor, Alicia Lohmann, Mary (Dan) McElroy, Tom (Kay) Lohmann and Monica Lohmann, brothers-in-law Jim Frahm, Rex (Barbara) Waller and Max (Paula) Waller and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cannon Rivers Senior Living of Cannon Falls and Brighton Hospice of Northfield.
