Andrina Pike

January 15, 1923 — August 28, 2007

Andrina Pike, age 84 of Burnsville, died on Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007 at the Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville.

Andrina Pernilla Eide was born on January 15, 1923, the daughter of Cornelius and Bertha (Sander) Eide, on their farm home northeast of Howard, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bellview Lutheran Church.

Andrina spent her eight years of elementary education at the country school, one mile north of the farm. The four high school years were at Howard High. General Beadle College in Madison, SD captured her attention for one year. Then she decided to pursue nurses training and spent the next three years at the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. After graduating in 1944 from nurses training, a year was spent in Roseau, MN and a year in Detroit, MI at hospitals in those locations. A desire to return to Minnesota brought her to New Ulm, and there she was a surgical nurse for many years.

After caring for her mother for three years (in her last stages of Parkinsons disease), the mountains of Colorado were fascinating her. Andrina moved to Boulder and continued her surgical skills at the hospital there. She eventually worked for a urologist, Dr. Merritt Ringer, in his office for many years. She was an active Registered Nurse until retirement.

On March 23, 1968, Andrina married Don Pike at Las Vegas, Nevada, and they established their home in Boulder, where they both worked.

Don passed away in June of 1994. They were members of the Atonement Lutheran Church in Boulder, where Andrina was a charter member.

Andrina spent all the years of her life as a "caregiver" and she and Don had an open and welcoming home for all, especially her brothers and sisters, her nieces and nephews and their families. The 30 years in Colorado were special to her. However, after Don passed away, she moved back to Minneapolis and spent the last eight years in this area.

On April 11, Andrina suffered a stroke while living at the Rivers Apartments in Minneapolis. Since that time she has spent her days at Ridges Hospital and Ebenezer Ridges Care Center.

We thank all who cared for her and those whose prayers always brought comfort in her last months of life. Thankfully she is now at peace.

She is survived by two sisters, Udell (John) Mehl and Sharon (Jim) Weinel; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nephews and niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; and two brothers, LeGorie and Charles Eide.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, Apple Valley, with Pastor Duane Paetznick officiating.

There will be visitation from 10-11 a.m. at church.

Pallbearers will be David and Steven Mehl, Christopher Diffley and Fred Oss.

Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, CO, with Pastor Debra Engquist officiating from Atonement Lutheran Church of Boulder.

Let us now think of Andrina singing in the choirs of heaven as we celebrate her 84+ years here on earth.....
