Anna McNamara

Anna G. McNamara, age 87, of Goodhue, died on Monday morning, May 18, 2015 at St. Brigid's at Hi Park Care Center in Red Wing. Anna was born November 1, 1927 in Waverly, Minnesota the daughter of Francis P. & Mary (Foley) O'Connell. She was raised in Waverly. On October 3, 1953 Anna married Hugh McNamara in Waverly and then moved to his family farm in Belle Creek. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Columbkills Catholic Church. Anna enjoyed traveling with friends and family; sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and supporting her grandchildren at their various activities. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Hugh on February 14, 1994; her brothers Daniel & Joseph O'Connell; and her sister Alice O'Connell. She is survived by her children Teresa Ann (Fritz) Speck, Tim (Doris), Terry (Kelly), Ed (Jane), Cecilia (Tom) Hoffman, and Bill (Joan); her brother Edward (Judy) O'Connell; and sixteen grandchildren, Michael Speck, Phil and Erin McNamara, Kevin and Scott McNamara, Megan, Abbey, Molly and Sam McNamara, Mitch (Melanie) Hoffman, Carrie Hoffman, James, John, Joseph, Laura and Mary McNamara. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20 from 5-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at St. Columbkill's. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Speck, Phil McNamara, Kevin McNamara, Sam McNamara, Mitch Hoffman, James McNamara, and Scott McNamara.
