Ardis Elaine Durdahl, age 81, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus, Rochester.
Ardis was born on November 5, 1940 in Cannon Falls, the daughter of Winfred and Annie (Aslakson) Anderson. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School, and married Charles “Chuck” Durdahl on July 19, 1958 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue. They made their home in Cannon Falls and raised four children. She worked at Kid Duds, the Slurp factory, and finally at Cannon Equipment, where she retired after 34 years. She was a member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.
Ardis enjoyed her house plants, gardening and yard work, crafting and sewing, playing dice and cards, dancing and country music, and fishing and camping. She loved company, and always welcomed family and friends to stop by and stay awhile!
She is survived by her children, Robert (Kim) of Cannon Falls, Billy (Sue) of Cannon Falls, Barbara (Jeff) Mathews of Hastings, and Elizabeth Ripley of Fountain Inn, SC; 14 grandchildren, Chanse (Emily) Durdahl, Haley Durdahl, Dillon and Madi Schuler, Ryan (Kelly) Smith, Bradi (Evan) Knutson, MaKenzie Franklin (Devon), Gregory Mathews (Bekki), Erin (DJ) Carr, Nathan and Shannon Ripley, Megan (Eric) Santos, Jovonne and Lauren Ripley; 8 great-grandchildren, Waylon, Cayden, Kendra, Madyson, Amelia, Miya, Andrew, and Abraham; siblings, Doris Landon and Donald Anderson, both of Cannon Falls, and Russell (Betty) Anderson of Hastings; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Annie; husband, Chuck on January 13, 2010; son-in-law, Danny Smith; granddaughters, Bryn Ripley and Lindsey Durdahl; and sisters, Donna Pasch and Almira Ramstad.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00 pm, with visitation from 11 am - 1 pm, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. The service will be live-streamed and available to watch at the link below. Lead urn bearer will be Bob Durdahl, accompanied by Bill Durdahl, Barb Mathews, and Beth Ripley. Honorary urn bearers will be her grandchildren.
A private family committal service will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the VFW lower level.
