Arlene Samuelson

May 13, 1931 — September 2, 2006

Arlene was born at Wastedo on May 13, 1931, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Satren) Hanson. She attended the first 8 grades at the Wastedo School. Her parents operated the Wastedo store for many years. In August, 1945 her family moved to Red Wing. Arlene graduated from high school there in 1949.

On September 22, 1950, she married Myron Samuelson at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They lived on the family farm in Vasa Township.



Family meant a lot to her and she enjoyed having her grandchildren living so close. She was an active member of Vasa Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years, Bible school and also served on committees for WELCA. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling and crafts.



She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Myron; their three sons, Robert (Randi), Gary (Lorrie) and Dennis (Tammy), all of Cannon Falls; six granddaughters, Andrea (Brian) Mandelkow, Venessa (Jason) Mandelkow, Megan, Amber, Amanda and Kaitlin Samuelson; one grandson, Michael Samuelson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Arnold, Clarence, Leonard, Ernest and Melvin Hanson; and three sisters, Myrtle Clauson, Irene Hanson and Deloris Broin.



Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September. 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vasa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Andrea and Brian Mandelkow, Venessa and Jason Mandelkow, Megan, Amber, Amanda, Kaitlin and Michael Samuelson.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
