Arletta J. Soule, age 95, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025.
She was born on April 10, 1930 in Red Wing, the daughter of Ferdinand "Ferdie" and Esther (Johnson) Martenson. She attended rural school in District #38 (White Rock) and high school in Cannon Falls, graduating in 1948. She attended Charles T. Miller School of Nursing and worked at the city hospital in Red Wing.
Arletta married James D. Soule on November 11, 1950. She continued nursing work at the Cannon Falls Hospital and Nursing Home. She was a dental assistant to Dr. James Parkin for 21 years.
Arletta was active in bowling, was a former girl scout leader, belonged to her church circle, and was very busy with activities of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the many winters she spent in Florida with her husband of over 73 years, Jim.
Arletta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; and brother, Alden Martenson.
She is survived by her children, Barb (Ken) Elias of Cannon Falls, Bruce (Jean) of Lakeville, Jim (Sheryl) of Lakeville, Jon (Terry) of Cannon Falls, and Brenda (Dave) Deutsch of Cannon Falls; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and special nieces, Sandy and Sharon.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 5:00 pm, with visitation from 4-5 pm, at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. This service will be live-streamed and available to watch below. Dinner and fellowship will follow. Interment will be at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
Active urn bearer will be granddaughter, Jenny Jacobson. Honorary urn bearers will be her grandchildren, Jeff Soule, Jodi Stuart, Tammy Meyers, Jackie Arradondo, Shelly Clemons, Brady Soule, Aaron Soule, and Megan Soule.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First English Lutheran Church.
