Betty L. Woodward

Betty L. Woodward, age 98 of Dundas and formerly a longtime resident of Cannon Falls, died on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Betty was born on May 25, 1927 in Cleveland Township, Minnesota, to Howard and Anna Belle (Soule) Tyrrell. At an early age, her father died and her mother later married Theodore "Ted" Johnson. She graduated in 1945 from Cannon Falls High School.

She married Leo E. Barsness and together raised five children. She was a loving, supportive, and caring mother. She had a special gift of keeping track of all of us, including the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her children were grown, she worked at various jobs in the area, including Althoff Hardware.

In 1992, she married Willis Woodward, and they enjoyed several years together. She also enjoyed golfing with friends, tending her flowers, and was an avid reader.

She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls for most all of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Alan Barsness; son-in-law, Brad Mills; step-son, Dennis Pommerening; step-daughter, Gail Woodward; siblings, Fran Lorenson-Jan and Ralph Tyrrell.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dave) Reid, Laurel (Bernie) Sholing, Lynne (Wally) Ress, and Wendy Mills; step children, Linda (Pat) Kelly, Roger Woodward, and Marcia Pommerening; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
