Bobby D. Wegner

July 5, 1947 — January 31, 2026

Lumberton TX

Bobby Wegner, 78, of Lumberton, Texas, formerly a resident of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully in his home at the end of January, 2026.

Following his graduation from high school, Bobby joined the USAF where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was immensely proud that his two sons also served in the USAF.

In his working career following his military service, Bobby wore many hats, from air traffic controller to computer programmer; finally landing at Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, where he ultimately gained his journeyman’s license. He worked in the electrical department for more than 10 years before retiring in 2012.

Later in life, Bobby met and married his sweetheart, JoAnn. He was a loving and caring husband for 21 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending time at their lake house, and snow-birding on the gulf coast of Texas for their winters.

Bobby enjoyed many hobbies including motorcycle trips across the country, golfing with friends, watching "his" Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves, as well as the Wabasso Rabbits, and his most favorite; attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren throughout the years. His voice in the stands will be greatly missed.

If you knew Bobby, then you know that you could pick out his laugh in a roomful of people. His personality was big and he loved even bigger. To be loved by Bobby was to be teased by Bobby. Every one of his "knotheads" could hear the love behind the nickname.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Carman Wegner, by his brother Bradley, and his grandson Vincent.

Bobby is survived by his wife, JoAnn, her two children; Kirsten and Meagan, and by her five grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by his five children; Rob, Lynda, Chris, Katie, and Karla, from his previous marriage to their mother Brenda; and by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving Bobby are his siblings; Bruce, Bev, Brenda, and Berneta.

The world is a much quieter place for all who knew and loved Bobby, and his presence will be greatly missed. We know, however, that his legacy will live on through those he loved so well.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 3 at 11:00 am at the Cannon Falls Cemetery, with Pastor Timothy Banks officiating. An open house will follow from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at Our Saviour's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls.
