Bruce Johnson, age 71, of Cannon Falls, died Sunday, Jan 1, 2023, at his home, following a short battle with aggressive cancer.
Bruce Lewis Johnson was born on Dec. 28, 1951, in Red Wing, the son of Leslie and Lorraine (Strand) Johnson. He was a life-long resident of Cannon Falls, graduating from Cannon Falls High School in 1970. He worked in the Autobody Repair field his entire life, beginning when he was still in school. Bruce owned Johnson’s Collision Center, prior to retiring. In 1976, Bruce married Diane Wenker at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church. Along with hunting, fishing, and playing golf, Bruce enjoyed rebuilding old cars. Two of the notable ones he rebuilt were a 1929 Model A Ford and a 1970 Chevy Chevelle. Bruce’s life-long passion was for building his dream retirement home up north on the Chippewa Flowage. He was a member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Diane of Cannon Falls, daughters Jenny (Kevin) Deutsch of Savage and Angela Johnson of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren Jordan, Hailey, and Kennedy Deutsch; and Keyera, Keli, and Kalicia Walton; mother Lorraine Johnson, mother-in-law Lois Wenker; brother Greg (Sheri) Johnson, sisters-in-law Janet Gaspar and Connie (Rick) Theis; brothers-in-law Glen Wenker, Brian (Dawn) Wenker, David (Tammy) Wenker, and Kevin Wenker; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his father Les Johnson, his father-in-law Ken Wenker, and his sister-in-law Rhonda Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 am, at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN, 55009. There will be a visitation at the church, one hour prior to the service. Bruce’s funeral will be live streamed and may be viewed by clicking below.
