Clayton Magnuson

February 1, 1918 — June 15, 2008

Clayton Lionel Magnuson, age 90 of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday morning, June 15, 2008 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center.

Clayton was born at home in Wastedo on February 1, 1918, the son of J. Arthur and Mabel L. (Anderson) Magnuson.  He attended rural country school at District #47 in Wastedo, and as a youth, helped on the family farm.

Clayton was a lifelong member of Spring Garden Lutheran Church.  He was a machine operator at Swift and Armour Meat Packing Plant in South St. Paul for 12 years.  He had also been employed for many years at the canning factory in Faribault.

He had resided in Northfield at two different times, and used to sing with the Troubadors Men's Chorus in Northfield.

Clayton loved fishing, and could fish every day!  He also enjoyed playing piano and driving.  He had been a volunteer driver for people with medical appointments.  Clayton has been residing at the Angels Care Center for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Inez Magnuson.

He is survived by his aunt, Florence Erickson of Cannon Falls; and several cousins.



A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation from 9-10 a.m., at Spring Garden Lutheran Church, with Pastors Nick and Cindy Fisher-Broin officiating.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Spring Garden Lutheran Church.



Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Erickson, Ralph Larson, Richard Samuelson, John Erickson, Charles Erickson, Alan Erickson, Herb Nerison, Victor Blastervold, and Irvin Freeberg.
