Curtis Duden, age 86, of Cannon Falls, died Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Cannon Rivers Senior Living.
Curtis C. Duden was born on December 20, 1937 in Red Wing, the son of Leonard and Helen (Fick) Duden. He grew up in the area, graduating from Cannon Falls High School in 1956. As a young man, Curt worked in construction for various companies. On June 1, 1957, he was married to Jean Lundell. Curt owned his business, Duden Construction, for many years. He also was the co-owner of Northfield Construction beginning in 1984. He retired from there in 1997.
Curt loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He made several trips up North with his family to go fishing. He was well known in the area as a men’s slow-pitch softball pitcher. He loved watching the Cannon Falls Bears, as well as the Twins and Vikings. Other favorite hobbies Curt had were: woodworking, pitching horseshoes, and playing card games. He was an active member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, having served on various committees through the years. Most of all, Curt loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children Pam (Ken) Pagel, Rayleen Duden, Jodi Duden, and Gary (Sue) Duden; grandchildren Brendon (Shelly), Theron (Robyn), Taylor (Mindi), Jenae, Heather (Eric), Bryce (Katie), Brock (Holly), and Aaron; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Marcine Lundell, John Duden, Betty Jacobs, Karen (Dean) Dicke, and Bruce (Kathy) Duden; sister-in-law Phyllis Duden, and many nieces and nephews.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, and his brother Lyle Duden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Ansgar’s Cemetery, the renovation of the John Burch Park, or to St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, Aug. 12, at 11:00 am at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Cannon falls Cemetery.
