David Howard Krohn, 86, of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, passed away on October 15, 2026. He was born on June 6, 1940, in Nicollet, Minnesota, to William Howard and Florence Agnes (Volz) Krohn, and grew up in Lafayette alongside his six siblings.
David served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he spent much of his free time traveling throughout Europe. One of his more memorable experiences was taking a train to Rome, where he saw Pope John XXIII. After returning home, David became an electrician, a career he continued until his retirement.
David loved the outdoors. In his younger years, he spent plenty of time fishing and hunting, and throughout his life he enjoyed camping, gardening, birdwatching, and building birdhouses. He especially loved purple martins and hummingbirds.
He and his wife, Earline, spent many summers at their favorite RV park on Cannon Lake, where they made good friends and plenty of memories. Through life's ups and downs, David's loyalty to Earline never wavered. He was someone she could always count on. David also shared an especially close bond with his son, Billy, and their relationship remained an important part of his life.
David was a man of habit, with a dry sense of humor and a knack for saying exactly what was on his mind. He enjoyed good conversation, swapping stories, listening to old country music, and watching Westerns like Gunsmoke. He always wanted to know who would be home for supper and had a soft spot for the dogs in his life, whether he cared to admit it or not. Bruno, in particular, held a special place in his later years.
David is survived by his son, William "Billy" Krohn; granddaughter, Amanda "Mandy" Bode-Krohn and her husband, Chris Bode-Krohn; and great-grandchild, Flynn Nichols. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Earline Krohn; stepdaughter, Rhonda Westvik and her husband, James Westvik; granddaughter, Jaime Johnson; his parents, William Howard and Florence Agnes (Volz) Krohn; and his six siblings.
David will be remembered for his quick wit, his stories, his unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and his ability to make people laugh without even trying. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, familiar sayings, and stories that will continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 29, 6:00 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with a visitation from 4-6:00 pm. Burial in Cannon Falls Cemetery will be at a later date.
