Donna Freeberg

Donna Marie (Henderson) Freeberg, age 90 of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Monday morning, August 13, 2018 at The Gardens at Cannon Falls.

Donna was born at home in White Rock (Vasa Township) on March 24, 1928, the daughter of James F. and Ruth E. (Hagman) Henderson. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1946, and married Ellis J. Freeberg on May 31, 1947 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. She was an active member at Spring Garden for the many years her children were growing up. She was now an active member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.

She worked at home, and was also employed part time at local businesses. She loved to garden, cook, sew, bake, and do crossword puzzles. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she will be remembered for her gifts of acceptance, compassion, and her continuous love.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Jim) Lorentz, Ron (Marcia) Freeberg, Stephanie (Tom) Fox, and Maxine (Jim) Roush, all of Cannon Falls; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 56 years, Ellis on March 16, 2003; sister, Barbara Smith; and grandson, Korey Roush.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica Growette, Jenny (Steve) Hildebrandt, Mitch (Olivia) Lorentz, Aaron (Bridget) Lorentz, Andy Lorentz, Cary (Laura) Freeberg, Peter Freeberg, Elizabeth (Joel) McGeough, Renee (Jim) Cook, Michael Holtorf, Kelly (Brice) Miller, Kammy (Josh) Huneke, Tony Rapp, Willie Rapp, Jessica (John) Parks, Kyle (Patty) Roush, and Allie Forsman.

Memorials are preferred to the Cannon Valley Trail.
