Doris Davisson

March 14, 1927 — March 6, 2016

Doris "Nook" Caroline Davisson, age 88 of Cannon Falls, died Sunday March 6, 2016 peacefully at home. Doris passed away after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on March 14, 1927 in Hampton, MN, the daughter of Arnold and Florence Grisim. She lived on the family farm in Randolph for most of her young life and graduated from Randolph High School. She married her husband Raymond E. Davisson in 1948. Doris worked at a number of jobs throughout her adult life, including positions at Kid Duds, Sheldahl, 3M, and a small business she and her husband operated before their retirement. In addition to a variety of paid jobs, Doris was a gifted seamstress and homemaker. Doris had a kind soul, caring for ill family members and friends and always putting the needs of others before her own. Although she was a very private person, she was loved by all who knew her. Doris loved to laugh and had a wry sense of humor. She was a lifelong learner, a voracious reader, and adored listening to all that NPR Radio offered. Doris never met a cookie or a sweet she didn't like. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and her much loved sister, Arlene "Bea" (Grisim) Mills. She is survived by her son (Jose "RJ" Davisson), her daughter-in-law (Donna Davisson), her two granddaughters (Blake and Channing Davisson), her sister (Charlotte "Tootie" DeYoung), and her two brothers (Arnold "Buzz" Grisim and Jon Grisim). At the end of her life, Doris was cared for by Northfield Hospice, her granddaughter, Channing, and her son. A private dual burial service for Doris and her husband Raymond will take place at a later date at the Lake View Cemetery in Randolph.
