Dory Baird

Doris Jean (Bebo) "Dory" Baird, age 82 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday morning, November 23, 2013 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Dory was born on October 1, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of V.C. and Eva (Montis) Bebo. The family stayed in Sioux Falls until her dad was drafted in WWII. They moved to Dolliver, IA. Dory graduated in 1950 from Dolliver and went to work in Fairmont, MN at Ella's Dress Shop. Fairmont is where she met Barney through a friend and starting dating and married on August 5, 1951. Dory and Barney moved to Cannon Falls in 1951. Dory worked for Kid Duds and Althoff Hardware. In 1974 she and Barney opened the Pirate in downtown Cannon Falls and in the 1980's opened Barney's Drive-Thru which is now the Dairy Queen on Hwy 52 in Cannon Falls. Dory's joys in life were her family, immediate and extended, her church, dancing (to "Stardust" and "In The Mood"), playing cards, traveling and Elvis. Dory was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Barney. She is survived by daughter, Vicki Pepera of Farmington; son, Dale (Pat) Baird of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Terry Baird, Jon (Tammy) Baird, Buck Pepera (Shelly), Beau (Michelle) Pepera; great-grandchildren, Katilynn, Kelsey, Mattison, Jaeden, Teigan, Brekken, Grayson, Samantha and Grace; two sisters, Ginny (Dick) Munson and Bev Wojahn, all of Cannon Falls; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Terry and Jon Baird, Buck and Beau Pepera, and great grandchildren, Katilynn, Kelsey, Matti, Jaeden, Teigan, Brekken, and Grayson.
