Edward Burr

Edward Burr, age 80, of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Edward Francis Burr was born on February 13, 1937 in Randolph, the son of John C. and Helga T. (Larsen) Burr. He grew up and graduated from Randolph High School in 1955. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army as a young man. He worked various jobs early in life including the Peavey Company in Hastings, Hudson Manufacturing, Althoff Hardware, and Minnesota Malting. He went to work for the Koch Refinery in Rosemount where he spent most of his career, retiring as an Operations Supervisor. On June 30, 1962, Ed was united in marriage to Arlis Millard. In his retirement, Ed worked for Syngenta in Stanton. He loved his family, playing baseball, and golf. Ed was well known as a baseball player and he managed the Cannon Falls Bears Baseball Team, which he resurrected in 1986. He was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. Ed previously served on the Cannon Falls Township Board. Survivors include his wife Arlis "Tootie", children Tom (Jana) Burr, Tammy (Greg) Casey, and Trisha (John Fulton) Burr, grandchildren Kendra Burr, Sophia Fulton, Matt Casey, and Anna Casey; brother Joe Burr, sister Lois (Louis) McEvoy, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Violet, brothers Raymond, John, and Lawrence Burr, and sisters Veronica Burr, Lucille Becker, and Karen Feidt. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill, Cannon Falls. Visitation will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m., at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd., Cannon Falls, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Following the memorial service on Friday, a Celebration of Life will take Place at the Cannon Golf Club from 12:30-3:00 p.m.
