Elizabeth (Betty) Julia Gorman, age 94, formerly of Goodhue and Apple Valley, died at her home in Red Wing on Saturday April 25, 2020. She lived at Potter Ridge Assisted Living in Red Wing and died while having the best slumber party ever, with her three daughters. She and her family are so appreciative of the care she received from the staff and residents at Potter Ridge.

Betty was born on August 28, 1925, to George and Julia Elizabeth (Lutz) Klein in Minneapolis. She attended North High and then the University of Minnesota where she received her degree in Education. Betty taught kindergarten in Minneapolis and, following the birth of her children, in Red Wing. She then taught Title 1 in Goodhue. Betty married Henry Michael Gorman (Mort/Hank/Hing) on May 8, 1954 in Minneapolis. They made their home in Goodhue. Betty and Henry enjoyed thirty years together before he was taken away from her in a tragic farm accident in 1985. She loved to play the piano, enjoyed sewing, and her favorite pastime was going out for lunch and playing cards. She also loved dancing with the love of her life.

Survivors include her children Kathy (Tim) Alms of Red Wing, Mary (Todd) Judisch of Winona, Julia Noll of Apple Valley, and Stephen Gorman; grandchildren Nicole (Jeff) Chaska, Matthew Alms, Laura (Brent) Garcia, Chrissie (Derek) Peterson, Chad (Amanda) Raiche, Brian Raiche, and Mike (Lacey) Raiche; great-grandchildren Jayce, Addison, and April Chaska, Tiahna, Aria, and Carter Garcia, Charlie and Maya Raiche, and Ryann and Kamryn Raiche. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, infant son Joseph, her parents George and Julia, brothers George and Albert, and a brother in infancy, Erwin.

Private family services will be held at St. Columbkill Catholic Church at a later date. Lundberg Funeral Home of Cannon Falls is assisting the family.
