Esther Viola Senrick, age 98 of Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, March 11, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Red Wing. Esther was born on November 25, 1917 in Fremont Township, the daughter of James and Mabel (Svenningson) Boynton. She grew up on the family farm in Fremont Township and attended country school through the 8th grade. At age 14, she met her future husband when they were both cast in a community play. She married Alton Senrick on October 14, 1937 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN. For many years, they operated a trucking and feed business in Wyattville, MN where she was the bookkeeper. She also was an Amway distributor for over 30 years. Esther enjoyed reading and drawing, and found great pleasure in gardening, flowers, and feeding the birds. She enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and drop in visits with friends and family. She will be remembered most for her great listening abilities and the many friendships she acquired over the years.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Larry) Thomforde of Zumbrota and Larry (Betsy) Senrick of Shoreview; five grandchildren, Steve (Susan) Thomforde, Kristine (Scott) Carlston, Eric (Marijo) Thomforde, Anna Senrick, and Tasha (Adam) Rekau; seven great-grandchildren, Brook and Molly Thomforde, Cole, Dane, and Emerson Carlston, Mason Thomforde, and Mason Rekau; sister, Bonnie Thill of Winona; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 64 years, Alton; and brothers, Vernold, David, and Roger Boynton. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10-11 AM, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in her memory to St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church and Cannon Falls Library. Active pallbearers will be Steve and Eric Thomforde, Anna Senrick and Scott Carlston. Honorary pallbearers will be remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
