George Hanson

September 25, 1918 — May 20, 2012

George Leonard Hanson, age 93 of Cannon Falls died on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. George was born on September 25, 1918 in Trimont, MN, the son of Louisa (Anderson) and Louis Hanson. George lived on a farm growing up and worked doing feed grinding for local farmers. He moved to Austin to work at Kemps Dairy where he worked until his retirement. While in Austin he met Louise Blegseth and they were married in June of 1971 at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. After his retirement he worked part-time as a janitor at the Austin Mall. He mowed and did minor repairs at Oakland Trailer Park in Austin until 2008 when he moved to Twin Rivers in Cannon Falls. He has resided at Angels Care Center for the last two years. George was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Club. He enjoyed reading, watching old westerns on tv, mowing the lawn, going out to eat and gardening vegetables. George will be remembered as a caring man who loved his family. He will be greatly missed. George is survived by his children, Douglas (Karen) Hanson of Platteville, CO, Louise Hinckley of Thayer, MO, Monica (Keith) Freeman of Dundas, Nordis Estrem of Dennison and Thomas Blegseth of Wanamingo; grandchildren, Keith (Samantha) Hanson of Vallejo, CA, Amy (Chris) Johnson of Johnstown, CO, Sara Hinckley of Thayer, MO, Dale (Teri) Freeman of Faribault, Sue (Tim) Malecha of Lonsdale, Julie (Don) Werner of Northfield, Dee (Tim) Larson of Northfield, Daniel (Debra) Estrem of Inver Grove Heights, Dawn (Steve) McClenney of Cannon Falls, Mandy (Sal) Pusateri of Owatonna, Tami Blegseth of Faribault, Ellen (Jason) Herrely of Warsaw, Ashley (Moe) Fadlallah of Eagan and Samantha Blegseth of Wanamingo; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Blegseth-Hanson; parents, Louisa and Louis Hanson; sisters and brothers, Freda (Andrew) Anderson, Ester (John) Anderson, Ray (Hazel) Hanson, Agon (Myra) Hanson, Mae (Jack) Bolte, Edna Alm (Merle) Hansen, Ella (Oscar) Sjogren, Evelyn Pearson (Forrest) Minick, Roy (Doris) Hanson; son-in-law, Donald Estrem. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at Lundberg Funeral Home, with Pastor Terje Hausken officiating. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Prairie Creek Cemetery in Dennison. Active pallbearers will be Paul Nygaard, Mathew Blegseth, Daniel Estrem, Wally Sjogren, Dennis Hanson and Richard Pearson. Honorary pallbearer will be Bryant Nygaard.
