Geraldine Haggstrom

Geraldine Mary "Gerry" Haggstrom, age 82 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2015 at the Northfield Hospital - Long Term Care Unit. Gerry was born at home in Cannon Falls on December 27, 1932, the daughter of George W. and Adella (Pagel) Johnson. While in high school, Gerry worked at the Dairy Bar in Cannon Falls. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1950 and went to work at Honeywell for a few years. She married C. Ralph Haggstrom on June 7, 1952 at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where they remained active members for 30 years. They later joined Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where Gerry was active with the Willing Workers, sewing circle and church choir. She was also was a 4H leader and involved with Goodhue County Homemaker's Extension group. She enjoyed bowling, Cannon Falls Bomber sports teams, listening to books on tape, cooking and sewing, butterflies and the color purple. She especially loved spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids. She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, C. Ralph; children, Sarah (Greg) Novotny, Steven (Val Rae), Roger (Deb), Randy (Kathy Janssen), all of Cannon Falls; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Lyle) Wilson of Cannon Falls; brother, Ken (Margaret) Johnson of Red Wing; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Spring Garden Lutheran Church. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jennifer Rechtzigel, Jaci Stepan, Casey Haggstrom, Katie Sjoblom, Bekki Bakken, Krista Sheridan, Michael Haggstrom, Josh Haggstrom, and Hannah Schwenke, and great grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Rechtzigel, Sadie and Addison Stepan, Noah and Ruby Sjoblom, Griffin and August Bakken, Katelyn and Madison Haggstrom, Jackson and Rylynn Sheridan.
