Glenda M. Cooper

September 8, 1940 — July 9, 2025

Cannon Falls

Glenda Cooper, age 84 of Cannon Falls, died at her home on Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025, surrounded by family.

Glenda was born on September 8, 1940, in Center Point, IA, the daughter of Delmer and Olive (Wagner) Fisher. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in Marshalltown, IA in 1959 and married Kenneth Lee Cooper on July 5, 1959. They raised five children, and now her family has grown to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her greatest accomplishment!

Ken and Glenda wanted to raise their family in a small community, so they moved from Des Moines to Minburn in 1975, to a beautiful acreage in the country. While living in Minburn, they attended Minburn United Methodist Church. After moving to Cannon Falls in 1985 for Ken’s job, they were members of First Congregational United Church of Christ. Glenda served on different committees in her church including Love Lifts All. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Tuesday Club serving as president, and Cannon Falls Hospital Auxiliary serving as secretary. For many years, she volunteered at the Cannon Falls Hospital and delivered Meals on Wheels. At the age of 50, she decided to pursue her passion for interior design and went to college at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount. Putting her degree to use, she worked at Ferrin’s Furniture in Red Wing, along with private consulting on the side before retiring in 2000. She enjoyed reading, knitting, Swedish weaving, dancing, and spending as much time with family as possible.

Her love, Ken of nearly 33 years, died on January 31, 1992. Glenda, small but mighty, and with the help of her close family and friends, moved on to a life without her husband. Glenda was also preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Donald.

She loved her family and leaves behind her children, Ken (Terri) Cooper Jr. of Minburn, IA, Todd (Cheri) Cooper of Culbertson, NE, Scott (Wendy) Cooper of Dallas Center, IA, Donald’s wife, Kay Cooper of Franklin, MN, and Robynn (Brad) Lorentz of Cannon Falls, MN; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan (Hayley), Rebekah, Christopher (Kaitlin), Jessica (Steven), Jazmin (Deryck), Rianna (Jeremy), Kassi (Sam), Amanda (Kyle), Lukas, Emilee (John), Nicholas (Sami), and Grace; 12 great-grandchildren, Marley, Zoey, Rorey, Raelyn, Annalisa, Tatum, Hadlynn, Kallie, Owen, Brooks, Miller, and Cooper; her sweetie of 9 years, John Duden; best friend/partner in crime, Linda Rifenberick; her brother, Ed (Carol) Fisher; sisters-in-law, Verna Stamp, Marilou Shreck, Darlene Cooper and Virginia Kugler; and many nieces and nephews.

As this is a celebration of Glenda's life, she requested everyone wear their colorful clothing! A visitation will be held at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls, on Saturday, August 23rd from 1pm to 3pm, with a brief prayer service directly following with Pastor Tom Countryman officiating. This service will be livestreamed and available to watch below. On Sunday, August 24th, there will be a visitation from 1pm to 3pm in Minburn, IA at the United Methodist Church. Directly following, Glenda will be laid to rest between Ken and Donald at Elmwood Cemetery just outside of Minburn, with Pastor Matt Krause officiating.

Glenda taught us to work hard, speak our minds without fear, the importance of a clean house and a homemade meal, what it means to put family first, to laugh through ups and downs, and most importantly, to love unconditionally.

Be Kind!
