James Neary

James M. Neary, age 70, on Wednesday December 23rd at the Mayo Hospital in Red Wing, MN surrounded by those who loved him dearly passed away suddenly due to complications caused from newly found cancer. More affectionately known as Jim or Jimmy, he was born to parents James P. and Marion L. Neary in St. Paul, MN. Jimmy was the oldest boy in a family consisting of 11 children. Although leaving us too soon, Jim lived a full, prosperous and exciting life. Jim was a cowboy among cowboys. As a proud American he served his country in the army from 1963-1966. Jim was a 30+ year professional truck driver, extremely proud Teamster, self-proclaimed pool shark, avid marksman, no tell poker player, horsemen, classic car lover, backyard mechanic, second generation jimmy rigger and animated story teller. But his greatest accomplishment was family, he was a loving husband, mentoring and caring father as well as a wonderful and supporting grandfather. Jim is survived by wife Lesley, sons; Jimmy (Caryn), Timmy (Kara) and Tommy. Grandchildren: Gretchen, Gunnar, Gavin, Aubrey, Tieren, Kason. Siblings Pat, Dee, Johnny, Tommy, Kathy, Hellen, Debbie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim will be welcomed at the heavenly reunion by those proceeding him in death, Mom, Dad (Mr. Neary), sister Sheila, twin brothers Kevin and Dennis. Jim will be remembered as a great, fun loving, quick witted, joke telling, honest and wonderful cowboy who left this world too early but left an impact on all those that took the time to know him. His family along with many friends will miss him dearly. An opportunity to pay your respects and say goodbye will be on Tuesday December 29th from 4 to 7 pm at the Lundberg Funeral Home located at 5839 Highway 19 Blvd. Cannon Falls, MN.
