James Albert Weber, age 79 of Cannon Falls, MN died at home on Friday, August 26, 2016 with his family at his side following a six year battle with cancer. He was born on September 2, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN. He attended school in Fletcher, MN, and later enlisted with the US Army. He served from 1956-58 and was based in California. On January 17, 1959 he married Eleanor Quigley with whom he enjoyed 57 wonderful years. Jim and Eleanor operated J. A. Weber Sod and Landscaping Company in Rogers, MN. He served on the Rogers City Council, and was a volunteer fireman with the Rogers Fire Department. They moved to Cannon Falls in1974 where they owned the Westwind restaurants in Cannon Falls and Red Wing. As a local businessman, he was a Rotarian and committed to the community. He enjoyed the "table of knowledge" coffee group, making maple syrup in the spring, and woodworking. Also, in his retirement, he enjoyed driving bus for Cannon Falls Schools.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; 7 children, Michael (Kate), Gregory (Nadia), Stephen (Vickie Tholkes), Rita (Rudy) Emrick, Colleen (David) Willis, Thomas (Lisa), and Paul (Elizabeth Lavigne); and 9 grandchildren, Samuel and Josh Emrick, Caroline and Anthony Willis, Clare, Nora and Molly Weber, and Maeve and Teagan Weber. His surviving siblings are Gerald Weber, Annette Talbot, Judith Knapp, and Kenneth Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Gertrude Weber; and siblings, Harland Weber, Beverly Ebner, and Charles Weber. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Sep 1 from 5-8 p.m., with parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, Sep 2 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill St., Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
