Janet Stromme, age 83, of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Saturday Morning, at Cannon Rivers Senior Living.
Janet Marie Stromme was born on August 25, 1940, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Veronica (Beyer) Lordeman. She grew up there and attended St. Mary’s Parochial School through the 8th grade. Janet graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1958, and continued her education at Moorhead State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She worked for a couple of years teaching second grade in St. Cloud and then a couple of years in Bloomington. It was there that she met, on a blind date, Ron Stromme. They were married on August 6, 1966. The couple moved to Cannon Falls where Janet taught in the elementary school for the rest of her career. She was an active member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, there, she was a member of the CCW and taught Sunday School.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and any kind of arts and crafts. Janet also enjoyed flowers, especially her African Violets. She had quite a “green thumb.” She also enjoyed cooking and baking, and had an extensive collection of angels. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s sports and music events.
Survivors include her husband Ron, her son Steve (Jennifer) Stromme of Rochester, grandsons Noah, Alexander, and Drew Stromme, all of Rochester; brother Richard Lordeman, sister Kathie (Scott) Hample, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law Joyce Lordeman.
Janet’s family would like to thank the staff of Cannon Rivers and Brighton Hospice for their excellent care.
