Jill Otto

Jill Robin Otto, age 59 of Cannon Falls, died at home unexpectedly on Sunday evening, May 7, 2017. Jill was born on November 1, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Leslie and Marjorie (Gesme) Kurtz. She graduated in 1976 from Cannon Falls High School. She married Donald "Donny" Otto on January 3, 1976 in Sogn, MN. They made their home in Cannon Falls and raised two children. She was employed at Lorentz Meats and later Midwest of Cannon Falls for many years. She had been employed the last 12 years with Bon Appetit at St. Olaf, and most recently in housekeeping at St. Olaf. Jill's love for her family and friends were her purpose in life. She especially holds dear her grandchildren, as she loved every moment with them and followed all of their activities. She loved going on trips to Duluth, and recently shared another trip with Donny. She was a dedicated friend, and especially enjoyed spending time with past work friends at gatherings. Her beautiful smile and loving embraces, her genuine love and kindness for family and friends, her pure love in giving and sharing special moments, will never be forgotten and will always remain in our hearts. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donny; son, D.J. (Deena) Otto of Randolph; daughter, Shelly (Dwain) Otte of Cannon Falls; mother, Marge Kurtz of Cannon Falls; 8 grandchildren, Cortney (A.J. Neil), Drew, Kaytlyn, Thomas and Annabelle Otte, Collin, Cohen, and Cash Otto; great granddaughter, Adalynn Neil; brothers and sisters, Tim (Nancy) Kurtz, Susan (Scott) Gustafson, Mary (Stan) Ohmann, and Tom (Sue) Kurtz, all of Cannon Falls; and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Kurtz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Ida Otto; sister-in-law, Shelly Otto; and nephew, T.J. Kurtz. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11 from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Funeral service will be on Friday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls.
