Kenneth Arnold Monson, Sr., age 90 of Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, January 2, 2026 at Cannon Rivers Senior Living in Cannon Falls.
Ken was born on September 19, 1935 in Madison, MN, the son of Carl and Mabel (Hilleren) Monson and grew up in Madison.
He married Marlys Engebretson on June 16, 1959 and moved to Cannon Falls in 1965. They raised their children while he worked in carpentry most of his career. He retired from Berquist Company in Cannon Falls.He enjoyed watching and feeding birds, building things around the house, gardening and flowers, and playing Euchre. He loved playing Euchre with his kids and grandchildren, and was known to play tournaments at the VFW. Over the years, he enjoyed coffee and conversation with friends at the Cannonball Truck Stop.
He is survived by his sons and daughters, Rod, Janell Cady, Brad and Craig, all of Cannon Falls, Angie Sutherland of Red Wing, and Mitch (Karla) of Burnsville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, James of Appleton; sister, Alyce Weber of Forest Lake; sister-in-law, Marie Anderson of Maplewood; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys on June 12, 1987; son, Kenny Jr.; grandson, John Monson; siblings, Wallace, Gladyce, Alpha, Mildred, Helen, Philip, Charles, Charlotte, Roger, Ruth, and Mary.
A service will be held in the spring, 2026.
