LaVonne Gappa

LaVonne Marie Gappa, age 88 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 2015 at Mayo Health Systems-Red Wing. LaVonne was born on December 25, 1926 in Wantonwan County, MN, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Koenig) Rubedor. She married Paul J. Gappa on July 19, 1947 at St. James. They farmed for 13 years at Madelia before moving to Cannon Falls in 1962. LaVonne was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, and worked for several years at Kid Dud's and Super Valu. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved nature, including the wildlife around her home. She will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Steve (Pauline) of Kenyon, John (Millie) of Nerstrand, Greg of Madelia, Ken (Deb) of Cannon Falls, and Paulette (Gary) Gadient of Goodhue; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Duane (Mitzi) Rubedor of Duluth and Delmer (Brenda) Rubedor of Copperas Cove, TX; sister-in-law, Vivian Rubedor of Owatonna; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul on 1/22/1995; son, Bruce; grandson, Timothy; sister, Marion; and brother, Lloyd. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Amy Gappa, Jessie Gappa, Emily Baron, Stefanie Gappa, Becky Haugen, Chris Gappa, Carrie Archer, Scott Gappa, Bruce Gappa, Beth Fallon, Ken Gappa, Susan Breyer, Paul Miller, Krista Gadient, and Brady Gadient.
