Leif Blakstad

Leif Eric Blakstad, 51, of Kenyon, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec 21, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, surrounded by family following a courageous nine-year battle with clival chordoma.

Leif was born in Zumbrota, MN to Gale & Diane (Piercefield) Blakstad and attended Cannon Falls school and grew up in Sogn Valley.  Leif worked primarily as a farmhand and excelled in retail.  He had three beautiful children and enjoyed being a stay at home dad.  Leif loved the outdoors and particularly cherished his children.

Leif is survived by his sons Gavin & Gunnar (14), his daughter Lyra (6), his brother Tom Bilderback, his sisters Gwen Bilderback (Al Alger), Kim Bien (Wyatt Hayes) , & Roxanne (Chris) Powers,and several nieces and nephews with a special mention of Jessie & Jody Stock.

Leif is preceded in death by his mother Diane, his father Gale, his sister Chrissy, and his brother Michael.

Leif will be dearly missed.  The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, May 21 from 1-4pm at the Kenyon VFW.
