Louis Davisson

December 12, 1929 — January 1, 2008

Louis Edmond "Louie" Davisson, age 78 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday afternoon, January 1, 2008 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, following a long illness.

Louie was born on December 12, 1929 in Randolph, the son of Oscar and Frieda (Oberdorf) Davisson. During his junior and senior years in high school, he worked with Tony Kruse doing carpenter work for one year, and for Carl Johannson for one year doing plumbing and heating. He had also worked at the elevator with his Uncle Frank Klahr. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1948.

He married Patsy Duncan on February 3, 1951 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church.

Louie played with the Cannon Falls Bears for many years, winning the state amateur baseball championship in 1952.

He served with the US Navy from September 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953, and he continued to serve with the reserve for four years. After the Navy, he worked a short time at Lee Chevrolet in Cannon Falls. He was employed with grocery stores, working with Al Zschunke, Dusty Rhodes, John Holmes, and then became manager of the National Tea Store in Cannon Falls, working with Al Roiger later on. He started employment at the Cannon Falls Post Office in 1961 as the #1 walking route in Cannon Falls. He retired in July, 1993.

Louie was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Cannon Falls Golf Club for many years. During that time he had shot a hole-in-one. . . two times!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Frieda Davisson; and an infant sister, Julia.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Patsy; three sons, Dave (Deb) and Dyke, all of Cannon Falls, and Todd (Allison) of Glendale, AZ; four grandsons, Josh (Levanna, Vincent and Isabella), Jake (friend Anne, Lily and Cora), Alastair and Drysdale; three brothers, Gerald (Ardy) of Los Alamitos, CA, Gene (Rosella) of Randolph, and Ray (Doris) of Cannon Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be his four grandsons, Josh, Jake, Alastair and Drysdale Davisson, and the Cannon Falls Bears 1952 State Championship Team.

Memorials are preferred to the Angels Care Center Chapel Fund, or the P.S.P. Foundation in Rochester.
