Lowell Edgar "Andy" Anderson, age 85, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died at his home on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026.
Lowell was born on February 4, 1941 in Red Wing, the son of Edgar J. and Luella M. (Roisum) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm with his six other siblings. As the oldest son, he started helping on the farm at a very early age. The lessons of hard work and dedication he learned early in life guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1959 and attended Winona State for one year.
He served proudly with the US Marine Corps from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. He returned to marry the love of his life, Sharon VonBargen on February 5, 1966 at Vasa.
Lowell started his trucking and freight transportation company, A & H Cartage in 1970. He was proud to pass on his business to son, Jeff. Lowell continued to be in contact with his many business associates and friends throughout the years.
All the while being a solid gentleman with a mischievous smile, Lowell enjoyed life to the fullest and always kept busy! He loved traveling the U.S. and Mexico in their motor home, fishing, riding his side-by-side, feeding the birds, and attending all of his grandchildren's events. He and Sharon still wintered in Arizona every year. There wasn't anything that he missed doing... his bucket list was complete!
A man who led a life of service, Lowell was active in the VFW Nelson Scofield Post #4452 and the Kraft-Ostrom American Legion Post #142, serving on the Cannon Falls Veteran's Honor Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Oriental Lodge #34, serving as Master in 1986. He also was active in the Shriners. He was a longtime member of the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Betty Jane, Sallee, Dianne, James, Ruthie, and Reid; and brother-in-law, Curt VonBargen.
He is survived by his loving family... wife of 60 years, Sharon; children, Lori (Brian) Otto and Jeffrey (Renea) Anderson; 8 grandchildren, Amarah Otto, Ella Otto, Payton Anderson, Cameron Anderson, Mackenzie Dalton, Madeline (Adam) Schmidt, Maxwell Dalton, and Gracie Anderson; 4 great-grandchildren, Willow, Riley, Henry, and Sophie; brother-in-law, Randy Fox; sister-in-law, Linda VonBargen; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:00 - 11:00 am, at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. This service will be livestreamed and available to watch here: Lowell Anderson memorial. Following lunch, interment with military honors will take place at Spring Garden Lutheran Cemetery, Cannon Falls at about 2:15 pm.
