Luella Miller

August 10, 1924 — April 29, 2008

Luella Adele Miller, age 83 of Cannon Falls, died at her home early Tuesday morning, April 29, 2008.

Luella was born in Cannon Falls on August 10, 1924, the daughter of Alfred and Adeline "Addie" (Miller) Swanson. She graduated from the Cannon Falls High School in 1942, and worked as a waitress at different restaurants in the area.

She married Oscar M.L. "Fat" Olson in April, 1954, and they operated the Maid Rite Coffee Shop in Cannon Falls from 1953-1966. Oscar died in 1970.

She later married Armand Miller on January 17, 1972 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They lived in Cannon Falls for most of her life, except one year in Remer and three years in Amery, WI. They wintered in both Florida and Texas for many years until health reasons didn't permit it any more.

Luella had worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Cannon Falls for many years.

She enjoyed crocheting, and had made many mittens, afghans, quilts and lap blankets for others. She had many hobbies, and loved playing cards.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Armand of Cannon Falls; sisters, Adella Johnson of Cloquet and Marcie Berg of Cannon Falls; step children, Judy (Gary) Robbins of Amery, WI and Wayne Miller of Remer; step son-in-law, Michael Colgrove of Park Rapids, MN and Homer, Alaska; 8 step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren; nephew, William (Peggy) Berg of Faribault; and two nieces, Barbara (Tim) Sandahl of Franklin, Kentucky and Myrna Florentine of St. Michael.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Oscar; and step children, Ann Colgrove and Melody Berczyk.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Lynne Rigg officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the memorial service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Area Hospice.
