Marcella Thurmes

Marcella Kay Thurmes, age 78 of Hampton, died on Wednesday afternoon, September 9, 2015 at Twin Rivers Senior Campus, Cannon Falls. Marcella was born on February 16, 1937 in Webster City, IA, the daughter of Chester and Ruby (Montgomery) Lovelace. She graduated from Lakeville High School, and later married Myron M. Thurmes on April 18, 1956. They raised four children, and she was also a waitress in Hampton for 26 years. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She enjoyed crafts and reading, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Myron; children, Peter, Kay (Bob) Lutchen, Mark (Peggy), and Stephen; four grandchildren, Bianca Lutchen, Bryce and Kyle Thurmes, and Lindsay Thurmes; siblings, Carol Hemmen, Howard (Sally) Lovelace, Ronnie Lovelace, Becky Mies, Tom (Jill) Lovelace, and Joni Lovelace. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Diana Lovelace and Barry Lovelace. The family will be hosting a memorial service on Wednesday, September 16 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-3 p.m., at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
