Marie Lexvold

Marie E. Lexvold, age 89, of Goodhue, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Loving Residence in Red Wing, MN.

Marie was born on December 7, 1928 in Red Wing, the daughter of Raymond F. and Mary Leona (O’Reilly) McNamara.  She graduated high school from the Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, MN in 1946 and married LeRoy Lexvold on October 25, 1952 at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek. They farmed and raised their family in Goodhue Township.  After LeRoy’s death on July 5, 1983, Marie continued to assist with various farming and bookkeeping activities throughout her many remaining years on the farm.

Marie was a lifelong member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church and the St. Columbkill Rosary Society.  She was also involved in the Goodhue community and was a member of the Goodhue Lioness Club, where she worked on the calendar for many years. She was also active in the Red Hat Society, the Belle Creek Homemakers Group, and other various community events.  Marie was very handy and successfully tackled many home and landscape projects on her own.  She also enjoyed spending time with friends traveling, going to social events, and playing cards.  Marie will be remembered most for her love and support of family, and the time spent with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending their events, assisting in their many projects over the years, and hosting large holiday celebrations.

She is survived by her seven children, Larry (Barb) of Goodhue, Sue (Dave) Diercks of Red Wing, Keith of Goodhue, Beverly of Faribault, Wayne (Donna) of Kenyon, Kenny (Jane) of Goodhue, and LaVonne (Craig) Thomforde of Goodhue; 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Mulhern, Florence Ryan and Rosamond (Ken) Reding; brothers, Francis McNamara, Ralph McNamara and Raymond E. (Marlys) McNamara; brother-in-law, Lyle (Loretta) Lexvold; sisters-in-law, Dorothy McNamara and Anna Mae Lexvold; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; grandson, Darren Lexvold; brothers, Cecil (Rita) McNamara, Joseph (Maxine) McNamara and Chuck McNamara; sisters-in-law, Marjorie McNamara and Jeanelle McNamara; brothers-in-law, Joe Ryan, Walt Mulhern, and Ronald Lexvold.

Beginning with a rosary service at 1:30 p.m., visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26 from 2-5 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goodhue.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Marie’s grandchildren, Ross Lexvold, Tally Diercks, Jennifer Korte, Kolby Meeks, Nathan Lexvold, Michael Lexvold, and Dustin Thomforde. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren, Tricia Stiller, Renae Bryan, Chris Lexvold, Chet Lexvold, Ashley Lexvold, Brittany O’Reilly, Zach Diercks, Caleb Diercks, Tiffany Lexvold, Taylor Meeks, Sheila Burfeind, Chad Lexvold, Drew Lexvold, Mitchel Lexvold, Brandon Lexvold, Alyse Voth, Maggie Bigalk, Matthew Lexvold, Katelyn Lexvold, Haley Lexvold, Sean Thomforde, Alex Thomforde, Lucas Thomforde, Nicholas Thomforde, and Arianna Thomforde, and the great-grandchildren.
