Marlys Evelyn Marthaler, age 89 of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Marlys was born on January 17,1937 in Red Wing, to Harry and Evelyn (Martinson) Buck. She grew up in Goodhue, where she graduated from Goodhue High School.

Married Donald "Butch" Marthaler on August 4, 1978, and were members of St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls.

Marlys had many jobs in her life, including being a clerk at Scofields and 30 years at Althoff Hardware Store. She also enjoyed volunteering at Randolph School. The most important job she had was being a wife, mom, grandmother and great- grandmother "Gigi".

She enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's sporting activities, shopping, crafting, playing cards, eating out and entertaining her many family and friends.

She is survived by her 5 children, Randy Ryan, Jody Meyers, Deanna Plonsky, Tracey Weckop, and Troy Ryan and their spouses; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step daughter, step grandchildren; and sister, Kay Lee Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Butch Marthaler; son-in-law, Bruce Plonsky; grandson, Elmer Ryan; her parents, Harry and Evelyn Buck; brother, LeRoy Buck; sister, Glennis Buck; parents-in-law, Joe and Teresa Marthaler; and in-laws, Joe and Jeannette Marthaler, Ray Marthaler and Ed Henderson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 3:00 pm, with visitation from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill St., Cannon Falls.

Memorial gifts in Marlys' memory may be directed to organizations supporting leukemia, Down syndrome, heart disease, or Alzheimer's research and care.
