Marvin Lawrence Lau was born Aug. 27, 1936 in Farmington, MN to Fred and Esther Lau. He graduated from Farmington High School. On Nov. 15, 1958, he married Beverly Nelson at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Paul. He was a carpenter, working in construction many years. Marv and Beverly owned and operated Lau Sales Agency (Montgomery Ward) in the early 1980’s. He also farmed the family farm. Before retiring, Marv was doing home remodeling.

Marvin was a member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church. He was a member of the MPA Polka Club. He loved old-time music, especially polkas. You could find him and his wife at a dance every weekend. They traveled to many polka festivals throughout the United States. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at many events. He dearly loved his wife and family and will be truly missed. Marvin passed away on Monday morning, Sept. 14, 2020 at the age of 84.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Beverly; daughters Debra (Donald) Graber of Farmington and Linda (Bill) Craigie of Farmington, and sons Dennis (Cindy) of Elk River and Robert (Darcy) of Owatonna; grandchildren Krystle (Jonathan) Eilen, Angela (Mitch) Althoff, Michael (Alexis) Graber, Kathy (Ian) Seramur, Daniel (Alanna) Lau, Sydne (Chris) Lau, Ellie Lau, and Hailey Craigie; great-grandchildren Jackson, Jordan, Madelyn, Kelby, Adelia, Eli, Henry, Hazel, Kirrah, Londyn, Oliver, and one on the way; sister Sylvia of Florida; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law Darrell Albrecht and Kenneth Nelson, sister-in-law Patricia Nelson, nephew Craig Albrecht, and niece Nancy Nelson.

Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 from 9-11:00 am, at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, 7459 Highway 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, and will be outdoors at St. Ansgar's. Interment will be in the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Lundberg Funeral Home is assisting the family.
