Mary Ferguson

Mary Elizabeth Ferguson, age 94 of Hastings and a former Lake Byllesby resident, died on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2009 at the Regina Nursing Home in Hastings.

Mary was born on April 19, 1914 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Lena Mae (Bayles) Gilson. She graduated from the Randolph High School in 1934, and later in the year, married Robert E. Ferguson on November 3, 1934 in Red Wing.

They owned and operated the Lakeview Inn in Randolph for 21 years, and she attended the Randolph United Methodist Church (now Christ United Methodist Church.) Mary loved to play bridge and travel; loved the flowers, birds and the beauty of the lake; and was very interested in the history of Randolph.  She will be deeply missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert “Bob” on October 13, 1986; son, James “Jim” on October 14, 2002; step son, Robert “Bob” Foster; and three brothers, Phillip, John and Joseph Gilson.

She is survived by her son, John (Gerry) Ferguson of Vadnais Heights; daughter-in-law, Judy Ferguson of Hastings; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from 12-1 p.m., at the Christ United Methodist Church, 29470 Gaylord Ave, Cannon Falls, with Pastor Daniel Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery near Randolph.

Memorials are preferred to the Christ United Methodist Church and the Randolph Historical Society.

Active pallbearers will be Dan Ferguson, Brian Glasbrenner, Randy Thompson, Robby Ferguson, Randy Ferguson and Ritchie Ferguson.
