Melvin L. Lundell, age 91, of Cannon Falls, died Monday, April 27, 2020 at Cannon Rivers Senior Living.
Melvin LeRoy Lundell was born on April 6, 1929 in Vasa/White Rock Township, the son of Rutherford and Blanche (Lindell) Lundell. As a young man, Melvin joined the US Army where he served in the Artillery during the Korean War. Melvin was united in marriage to Donna Krueger. He worked for Iverson Concrete in Hastings, for Minnesota Malting in Cannon Falls, and for the Cannon Falls Beacon. He loved to play cards and make lawn ornaments. Melvin was an avid hunter, both deer and fox. He was a “lutefisk eating champion” and will be remembered as a notorious jokester. He was a member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Cannon Falls; sons, Todd (Lori) of Clearbrook, Danny (Mary) of Cannon Falls, and Tony (Carol) of Ellicott City, MD; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother Dale. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elaine, Regina, and Jean, and his brother Wayne.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 11:00 am at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. Interment with military honors will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.
