September 6, 1921 — May 20, 2007

Norman Ruthford Fredrickson, age 85, a lifelong resident of the Cannon Falls area, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2007 at the Trinity Care Center in Farmington, following a brief illness.

Norman was born on September 6, 1921 in Red Wing, the son of Fred and Ruth (Weberg) Fredrickson. He grew up in the White Rock area, and was baptized and confirmed at the Vasa Lutheran Church. Before marrying, he farmed on the family farm.

Norman married Hazel Ringeisen on October 30, 1943 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Farmington. After their marriage, they farmed for about 10 years in the area, mostly by Randolph. They later purchased a produce business in Stanton, and owned and operated Fredrickson Produce for 12 years. Norman later drove the bulk oil truck for Cenex in Cannon Falls, retiring after 27 years of service.

He was a member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. He enjoyed camping, dancing and traveling with his wife. He really enjoyed socializing, and spending time with the McDonald's morning coffee group was a day's highlight!

Norman will be fondly remembered for his good sense of humor, his generous nature, his kind manner, and his easy smile!

He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Hazel; two children, Penny Fredrickson of Eagan, and Robert (Joni) Fredrickson of Farmington; four grandchildren, Christopher (Laurie) Nelson, Candice Nelson (friend, Dan Anderson), Matthew and Michael Fredrickson; two step great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Thomas; brother, George (Barb) Fredrickson of Edina; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beatrice Lee; and brother, Donald Fredrickson.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Arthur Sharot officiating. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
