Pauline Martha Gappa, age 71 of Kenyon, died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, March 16, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System – St. Mary’s Campus.
Pauline was born on October 29, 1948 in South St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Harold M. and Ida A. (Hempel) Otto. She married Steven P. Gappa on June 3, 1978 at St. Pius V Catholic Church, Cannon Falls.
She worked for many years at Lorentz Meats in the food/deli area. She later worked at Angels Care Center, Cannon Falls in the dietary department until retiring.
For her whole life, Pauline’s focus and passion was taking care of others. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of over 41 years, Steve; her daughters, Amanda “Amy” Gappa of Kenyon, Jessica Gappa of Cannon Falls, Emily Gappa and Stefanie Gappa, both of Lonsdale; 3 grandchildren, Cole Gappa, Jerek Gappa and Adriana Barron; brothers and sister, David (Laurie) Otto of Welch, Millie (John) Gappa of Nerstrand, Donny Otto of Cannon Falls, and Dan (Ann Marie) Otto of Welch; sisters-in-law, Karine Otto and Cheri Otto, both of Welch; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She goes ahead to join those she loved and missed… her parents; sister, Michelle Otto, brothers, Harry and Paul Otto; and sisters-in-law, Chris Otto and Jill Otto.
A private funeral mass will be held at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Cole Gappa, Christopher Gappa, Tom Moran, Jason Archer, Scott Gappa, Nathan Murphy, and Adam Gregoire. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Weber, Jerek Gappa, Adriana Barron, and Benji Otto.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
