Randall Gellert

Randall Clarence "Randy" Gellert, age 71 of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday morning, May 9, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.



Randy was born at home on August 31, 1935 in Tenhassen Township, Martin County, near Fairmont, MN, the son of Clarence and Edna (Simmering) Gellert. Randy attended St. Paul's Lutheran Parochial School in Wilbert, MN and was a 1953 graduate of Ceylon High School.

He served with the US Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957.

He married Gay Ann Swink on April 19, 1955 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gay; four children, William (Carrie) Gellert of Baxter, MN, Shawn (Alan) Filzen of Richfield, Heather (Harlan) Peters of Kenyon and Lori (Mike) Fraser of Cannon Falls; nine grandchildren, Sarah (Abraham) Gellert-Cruz, Rachel (Cristian) Forsythe, Rebekah (Luke) Wagoner, John Gellert, Jennifer and Tony Magnuson, Joshua and Jacob Fraser, and Hannah Peters; three great-grandchildren, Tessa and Cosette Cruz, and Rosa Forsythe; sister, JoAnn (Harris) Eng of Odin, MN; and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gellert of Ceylon, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edna; and brother, Rolland Gellert.



Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14 at 2:00 pm at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls.

Interment with military honors will be held at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Monday from 1-2 pm.



In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, MN Chapter of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Mayo Clinic Cancer Research or St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church.

Active pallbearers will be Don Linscheid, Ron Thiessen, Nathan Eng, Patrick Dolan, Joe Dolan and Steve "Stub" Noble.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Nelson, Lyle Noble, Dick Wolters, Scott Morehead, John Fritz, Dave Johnson and Jim Deacon.
