Richard Hillmann

Richard Elmer "Dick" Hillmann, age 77 of Cannon Falls, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 2, 2012. Dick was born on January 6, 1935 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Klemz) Hillmann. He graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City in 1953 and went on to Valpo Tech. He married Jeanette A. Fenske on June 25, 1966 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield. They continued to live in Michigan City for 30 years, where Dick was employed with IBM until retiring. They were members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Michigan City. They moved to Northfield, MN in 1989, and later Cannon Falls, MN in 2000. He was employed with DataSwitch Corporation, where he designed and built electronics. He was an active member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, where he served on the church council and was past president. He will be remembered for his ability to fix just about anything! He enjoyed classical and pipe organ music, his model railroads, antiquing, and his children's Corgis. He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Jeanette; daughter, Judi Hillmann of Indianapolis, IN; son, Ryan Hillmann of Champlin; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Elsie Hillmann; stillborn son, Randy; and sister, Julia Ann Hillmann. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 30289 – 59th Ave Way, Cannon Falls. Pastor John Baumann will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ken Ebert, Pete Remme, Bill Betcher, Dick Ericson, Ken Caseltine and Dick Busiahn. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.
