Robert Earl Beckman, age 80 of Cannon Falls, died on Monday morning, April 13, 2026 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, where he has been residing the past three years.
Bob was born on January 22, 1946 in Cannon Falls, the son of Marvin and Vera (Moorhouse) Beckman. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1964. He married Theresa Kosse, and they had two children together. He served with the US Army Reserves and was a member of the Red Wing American Legion.
He married Jean Charnell, and on October 1 of this coming year, they would have been married for 50 years.
Bob worked as a welder at Meyer Industries in Hager City, WI, from 1965 until 2011. At that time, he was the longest working employee with their company when he retired in 2011. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union.Bob was an avid fisherman, and loved going up north to fish with his friends and son, Bryce. He was an accomplished bowler, still holding the record in Cannon Falls for high game of 296! He was also an expert cribbage player, receiving his Master's ranking from the American Cribbage Congress.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jean; children, Bryce (Bernadette) Beckman of Eagle Lake, Angelina (Dwyane) Vinson of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Judy) Charnell of Dundas, and Colleen Charnell of Cannon Falls; 9 grandchildren, Shelby, Jay, Allison, Kristofer, Isaiah, Josh, Jessica, Chad and Lindsay; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie (Orv) Swenson of No. St. Paul; and cousin, Brenda Larson of Cannon Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Charnell; and sister, Marie Nelson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at The Grand 02 Event Center, 32057 64th Ave., Cannon Falls. This service will be livestreamed and available to watch below. Interment with a military honors farewell will be at the Cannon Falls Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
