Roger Milton Callstrom, age 83 of Kenyon, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday afternoon, July 7, 2026.He was born on Sept. 13, 1942, at Red Wing, the son of F. Milton and Lucille (Rapp) Callstrom. He grew up at White Rock, MN. He attended a one room school (Dist. 16) through second grade before going to Vasa grade school. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1960.
He married Delores (Dee) Ulrick December 3, 1966, in Hopkins, MN. They had three sons, Dana, Dale and Craig. They lived in Cannon Falls area. They moved to rural Kenyon in 1972.
In 1960 he and brother Allen enlisted in the US Naval Reserves. He served two years on active duty aboard the US Essex carrier. His brother also served onboard at the same time.
After his discharge from active duty, Roger worked at Red Wing Optical for 2 years. He then went to work for Minnesota Telephone Co. in Cannon Falls & Kenyon, Mn. He retired in 1999 after 35 years. He then worked for ITI, based in Hopkins, Mn for 2 years and then at Midwest Wireless cell phone in Northfield, Mn. Until 2007 when he finally retired for good. He went from party lines to wireless phones in his career.
He liked mowing his lawn, working on Geneology, doing leather work, collecting vintage country music LP's, going to garage sales, feeding the birds and other hobbies and tinkering with this and that.
He is survived by his wife Dee (Delores Ulrick) of 59 years; sons Dana (LeAnn), Dale (Missy) and Craig (Stacy). Grand children, Aaron (Sarah) Callstrom, Hunter Wollenburg, Dylan (Hallie) Callstrom, Britta (Owen) Tracy, Ryan (Karli) Callstrom, and Mason Callstrom. Great Grandsons and Great Granddaughters, Edward Roger Callstrom, Charles Ryan Callstrom, William Alphonse Callstrom, Olie Gary Callstrom, Archie Clifford Callstrom, Elouise "Lou" Jo Tracy, Ensley Anne Tracy, Rella Renae Callstrom, and Audrey Grace Callstrom. Brothers, Allen (Barb) Callstrom and Daryl Callstrom (Sue Moore). Sister, Dianne (Tom) Gaedtke, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Grandson Gunnar Ray Callstrom; and Brother-in-law Tom Gaedtke.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. His funeral service will be held on Monday, July 13 at 11 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at Spring Garden Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. The service will be live-streamed and available to watch below. Interment with military honors will follow at the church cemetery.
Active casket bearers will be Aaron Callstrom, Hunter Wollenberg, Dylan Callstrom, Owen Tracy, Ryan Callstrom, and Mason Callstrom.
Honorary casket bearers will be Britta Tracy, Hallie Callstrom, Karli Callstrom, and Sarah Callstrom.
