With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Roger Dennis Quam, devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, and cherished friend. Surrounded by his family, he entered eternal rest on November 16 at the age of 80.
Roger was born in Cannon Falls on April 15, 1945, to Martin and Elizabeth (Eide) Quam. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1963 and from Mankato State University in 1968. Roger spent more than 30 years with Sheldahl in Northfield, where his work included serving on the boards of affiliated companies in Latvia and China, requiring frequent international travel. He later became the co-owner and founder of Aerospace Fabrication & Materials. During this time, he also earned his license as a local real estate appraiser and agent, a role he held for several years. Roger served on the Foldcraft Board of Directors and was an active member of St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, where he contributed his time to the church council and finance committee. He was also a longtime member and board member of the Cannon Golf Club.
Roger embraced life with joy, humor, and a genuine love for people. As a proud father of four daughters, he thrived as a "girl dad," celebrating their accomplishments, supporting their dreams, and filling their home with laughter. He treasured his daughters dearly, second only to the deep, unwavering love he shared with his wife of 52 years, Judy.
Becoming a grandfather brought him tremendous joy. He loved cheering on his grandchildren at games, recitals, and every milestone, always their biggest fan. His signature twinkle-in-the-eye smile and mischievous grin reflected his playful spirit and the love he felt for his family.
Roger believed life should be fun and lived that belief wholeheartedly. He brought energy and kindness wherever he went-on the golf course, meeting someone new, or lighting up the sky with his beloved Fourth of July fireworks. He had a true gift for making others feel welcomed and valued, never meeting a stranger.
A man of compassion, generosity, and steady faith, Roger poured goodness into the world. He offered support freely, loved deeply, and lived in a way that reflected the strength of his beliefs.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy, his four daughters - Krisanda Corelli (Tom Belland), Deanna (Greg) Nielsen, Traci (Sam) Jacobson, and Jessica (Matt) Braaten - his grandchildren - Kelsey Harper, Braedon (Lydia) Nielsen, Brooklyn (Brayden) Shaver, Connor Braaten, Zoey Jacobson, Kenzie Jacobson, Brenten Nielsen, Zach Jacobson, and Cooper Braaten - his great grandchildren - Scarlett and Finnick Nielsen , his brother - Dareld (Eileen) Quam, and many nieces and nephews, whom he adored, and the family he cherished beyond measure. His legacy continues in their lives, in the stories they'll share, and in the love he instilled in each of them.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marty Quam.
To know Roger was to love him-and to be loved by him was one of life's greatest gifts. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever celebrated.
May he rest in peace.
