Roger Wayne Swanson, age 61, of Woodbury, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Roger was born on February 2, 1965, in Plymouth, Minnesota, to Paul and Patricia (Harmon) Swanson. In 1970, the family moved to Red Wing, where Roger attended school and graduated from Red Wing High School in 1983. He continued his education at Minneapolis Business College, earning a degree in accounting.
In May of 1986, Roger married Jennifer Smith of Cannon Falls. Together they welcomed two sons, Brian in 1989 and Nicholas in 1992. In 2000, the family relocated to Cannon Falls, where both boys graduated from Cannon Falls High School. Roger moved to Woodbury in 2016, where he resided until his passing. He worked as a Credit Manager at Ryerson Steel in Coon Rapids, a role he took great pride in.
Roger loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events, where he was their proudest supporter. He cherished weekends at his camper, where he found peace and connection with those he loved. Roger was an avid sports fan, often found watching various games on TV or hosting lively garage gatherings at his townhouse. Some of his fondest memories were taking his sons and grandsons to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, a yearly highlight that reflected his deep love for the sport and most importantly, for time spent together.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Paul Swanson; his brother, William Swanson; and brother-in-law, Bruce Paasch. Many people take comfort in knowing Roger is at peace and is now reunited with his parents, who meant so much to him.
Roger is survived by his brother Steve Swanson (Charlie) and sister Nancy Paasch; his sons Brian (Amanda) and Nicholas Swanson; and his cherished grandchildren, Lincoln (6) and Calvin (2 ½). His steady presence, loyalty, and love for family will be remembered always.
