Ronald LaVern Klahr, age 61 of Cannon Falls, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday evening, March 13, 2012. Ron was born on October 9, 1950 in Northfield, MN, the son of LaVern and Bernice (Madson) Klahr. Ron was baptized and confirmed as St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Randolph. He married Christine Lamberty on May 22, 1971 at the St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. Ron served in the United States Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974. He became a truck driver at the age of 18 and traveled across the country driving truck. He was passionate about automotive work owning two auto body shops where he tinkered on cars and spent most of his time. He loved to add to his collection of automotive parts; which expanded greatly when he discovered Ebay and Craigslist. Ron was a part of the Randolph Fire Department from 1970 to 1975. He also plowed snow for the city of Randolph and Randolph schools for 25 years. He will be remembered as someone always willing to help those in need without expecting payment in return. Ron adored his grandchildren and he will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christine of Randolph Township; his children, Richard (Shannon Ruschmeyer) Klahr of Lakeville, Laura (Robert) Clouse of Nerstrand and Robert (Shawn) Klahr of Randolph; grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca and Anna Klahr, Trevor, Victoria, Alan and Gwendolyn Clouse, and Elizabeth and Frank Klahr; sister, Sherrie (Joe) Vandenheuvel; mother-in-law, Paralee Lamberty; sisters-in-law, Diane (Bruce) Brage and Sheryl (Barney) Flom; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Bernice Klahr; father-in-law, George Lamberty; and brother-in-law, Kevin Lamberty. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 12-3 p.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 3 p.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Joy Bussert officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren. Memorials in Ron's memory may be given to the Cannon Falls Veterans Memorial or the Cannon Falls Lions.
