Sara Bernadette Irrthum, age 90, died on Thursday, August 21, at her home in Farmington.
Sara was born in Eagan, Minnesota, on September 24, 1934; the daughter of Albert and Mae (Coffey) Perron. Following her schooling, Sara worked for the federal government as a bookkeeper, and was a homemaker. On October 26, 1957, Sara was united in marriage to Paul Irrthum in Mendota. Paul preceded her in death in 2017. She lived on the family farm near Farmington for 60 years, until retirement. Sara enjoyed painting, gardening, genealogy, doing farm work, and helping her kids with their 4H projects. She especially loved bookkeeping, and was good at it.
Survivors include her children Dan Irrthum and Carol Hopkins; grandchildren Terryn (Rob) Farmer, John (Sara) Hopkins, and Dani Jo Hopkins; great-grandchildren Henry, Raelee, Gabe, Owen, and Junior; sister Lois Gangl, and sister-in-law Mary Irrthum; as well as her special friends Banjo and Boone.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mae and Albert, her husband Paul, son-in-law Micheal Hopkins, sisters Frances Lannon and Mary Pineur; as well as many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Mathias Catholic Church, 23315 Hampton Blvd, Hampton MN 55031. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery, Cannon Falls.
