Senora Qualene "Cindy" Husaby, age 95, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday afternoon, April 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Cindy was born on August 14, 1930 in the Sogn area, the daughter of Lewis and Amanda (Strombach) Qualle. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1948, and married Marland "Peanuts" Husaby on November 4, 1948 in Dennison. They made their home in Cannon Falls and had four children. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls and had been active as a church circle leader. She also served on the Cannon Falls Hospital Auxiliary.
Peanuts took Cindy roller skating on their first date. Over the years, they enjoyed dancing (so many polka fests) and family vacations "up north". Her family was very important to her, and she loved being together with them! She planned many family get-togethers over the years. She loved quilting and made sure all family members had a quilt she made. She worked at various positions, but the majority of her career was in accounting.
She was preceded in death by husband of 76 years, Marland "Peanuts" in 2025; son, Roger in 1957; parents; parents-in-law, John and Christine Husaby; brothers, Clifford, Joseph, Edward, Russell, Henry, Walter, Virgil and Leslie Qualle; half brother, George Qualle; sisters, Lillie Wohfiel, Agnes Lawson, and Gertrude McKinley; sisters-in-law, Leann Nelle Qualle and Joanne Molstrom; and sons-in-law, Bill Langsdorf, Bruce Anderson, and John Althoff.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Royce) Anderson of Hastings, Phyllis Althoff of Cannon Falls, and LuAnn (Rick) Hughes of Cannon Falls; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene Qualle and Arlene Qualle of Cannon Falls, Gerald (Marilyn) Husaby of Cannon Falls, and Jeanne (Bryan) Skillestad of Cannon Falls; grandchildren, Heidi Anderson of Elko, Mindy Bekker of Cottage Grove, Mitch (Angie) Althoff of Randolph, Mike (Stephanie) Althoff of Cannon Falls, Andy (Erica) Althoff of Cannon Falls, Christie (Jesse) Makarios of Lakeville, Mandy Langsdorf (Justin Malecha) of Pine Island, Cole (Morgan) Langsdorf of Cannon Falls, Jake (Clare) Hughes of Fargo, ND, and Kara (Andy) MacDonald of Lester Prairie; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:30-11:00 am, at First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle St., Cannon Falls. The church will live-stream the service and will be available to watch here.
Honorary urn bearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
